The International Olympic Committee (IOC) refused to recognize the power of the President of the Olympic Committee of Belarus Viktor Lukashenko. In the IOC, it was called "temporary measure." Therefore, the IOC did not know the results of the election for the Head of the National Olympic Committee (NC) of the Republic of Belarus, which was held on February 26. In IOC "with dignity", it was noted that the NC failed to fully implement the first decision of the IOC executive committee (dated on December 7, 2020) that the previous leadership did not guarantee the safety of Belarusian athlete from the country's political isolation.
It is known that Viktor Lukashenko was elected during the Olympic meeting. Since April 2019, he has held the role of First Vice President of NOK. Alexander Lukashenko has been the president of NOK since May 1997. And the International Olympic Committee SMS Services did not recognize the member of the Executive Committee Dmitry Baskov, the sanctions against him and Viktor Lukashenko remain intact. In addition, the IOC has taken several temporary solutions: - to stop all payments in Noc Belarus, except payments related to scholarships to athletes and the preparation of the Belarusian team for the Olympic Games and their participation in they; - Contact the relevant international.
Federations with requests to ensure that all Belarusian athletes admitted to the competition can take part in qualifying competitions at the upcoming Olympic Games without political discrimination. - suspend discussions from the Belarus Noc to hold future IOC events; - Request all participants of the Olympic event to respect these conditions in the interest of protecting the rights of Belarusian athletes and the reputation of the Olympic event; - Request the Noc of Belarus and the Federation against the rise of political discrimination in the participation of Belarusian athletes in qualifying competitions and the selection of the Noc team in all Olympic Games; - will not invite high-ranking public officials of the Republic of Belarus and will not give them the initiative to participate in the Olympic Games.
