Since 1949, my country has dispatched agricultural technical teams to Southeast Asian and African countries to cultivate sugarcane technology, assist in the construction of sugar factories, and invest in sugar production. Around the same time, many countries rushed to send personnel to Taiwan to observe and learn sugar production technology. Now, let us review the deeds of Taiwan's sugar industry's technical assistance to foreign countries through the national archives. Cane sugar is a special product of Taiwan.
It has been one of the main commodities telemarketing list for export since the Joseon period, through the Ming and Zheng and Qing periods. At the beginning of Japanese rule in Taiwan, Taiwan Sugar Co., Ltd. was established to invest in production, and in 1901, the first new sugar factory was set up in Qiaotou, Kaohsiung, and the mechanized production chain was started. With the expansion of sugar factories across the province and the laying of sugar railways.
Wufen vehicles are busy sending sugar cane to sugar factories (Figure 1), refining high-quality sugar, and continuously increasing the total output. Gradually, the development of Taiwan's sugar industry is not only closely related to people's lives, but also shoulders the function of a locomotive, leading other industries to industrialization. gem_02 Photo Credit: Information provided by the National Development Commission.
